Local-first
How does Margo keep data local?
Margo is a local-first workspace. Your Workspaces, Materials, Clips, Recordings, and handwritten annotations stay on your device unless you explicitly export or share them.
What stays on device
- Workspace metadata that reopens your work
- Materials you add: PDFs, images, webpages, books, and text
- Handwriting and annotations
- Clips and Recordings, plus optional transcripts
Export or sharing is an explicit action you choose, to a destination you choose.
Permissions
- Microphone: only when you record a Workspace Recording.
- Files/Documents: only when you add Materials or choose an export/share destination.
- Network: not required for the core local-first flow; any future web/cloud feature will be disclosed first.
