Privacy Policy
Margo Privacy Policy
Margo is a local-first workspace. Workspace data, Materials, Clips, Recordings, and handwritten annotations are designed to remain on your device unless you explicitly export or share them.
Status: Draft prepared from the Margo Privacy Posture (2026-08-19); pending final legal review before production release.
What Margo stores
Margo stores the following locally on your device:
- Workspace metadata that reopens your work
- Materials you add: PDFs, images, books/text, and webpages
- Handwriting and annotations you create
- Clips (saved excerpts or regions from a Material)
- Recordings you create, and optional transcripts
Export artifacts are written only to a destination you choose when you export or share.
Permissions
- Microphone: used only when you add a Workspace Recording. Margo does not record in the background.
- Files/Documents: used only when you add Materials or choose an export/share destination.
- Network: not required for the core local-first Workspace. Any future web snapshot, sync, or cloud transcription feature will disclose its network behavior before use.
Transcription
Transcription of a Recording is optional and user-triggered. Margo will disclose any route that sends audio off-device before it is used.
